A Joint
Middlebury College/St. Michael's College Research Project
This project will investigate the factors that influence
ability to navigate in and learn environments in virtual reality
simulations. In particular, this research is applicable to
the practical operation of the teleoperation of remote robotic
vehicles and to the use of virtual simulations as training
devices to prepare individuals for real-life encounters.
Press
Release Two major research questions to be considered in this
component:
(a) Does greater peripheral vision enhance virtual
simulations learning?
(b) Does virtual navigation ability relate to hormone status?
A Joint VTC/UVM
Research Project
This project component,
based at Vermont Technical Collage in Randolph, VT, will help to
strengthen a research partnership between these educational
institutions, as well as enhance the capability of the VSGC to
Employ and Education NASA's future workforce. This will include
research modelling the dynamics in the Arctic's marginal ice
zone and students will develop and test a prototype for a sea
ice sensor buoy that can provide a data stream via a satellite
link for sea ice in the marginal ice zone of Alaska's Purdhoe
Bay
