ESA Huygens Probe
Titan Descent
Jan. 14, 2005
Dr. David H. Atkinson, Professor of Electrical
Engineering at the University of Idaho
presenting the
"The Cassini/Huygen Exploration of Saturn and
Titan"
Dr. David
H Atkinson is currently a Co-Investigator on
the NASA/ESA (European Space Agency) Cassini
Doppler Wind Experiment to measure winds in
the atmosphere of Titan, the largest moon of
Saturn, and is chairing the ESA Huygens Probe
Descent Trajectory Working Group. In 1995,
Dr. Atkinson performed the first measurements
of the very deep atmospheric winds on Jupiter
as the Principle Investigator on the Galileo
Doppler Wind Experiment.
Dr. David H Atkinson is leading a team of
engineers and scientists looking at the
possibilities for future atmospheric entry
probe missions to Neptune, and is a
co-investigator on a team proposing a future
entry probe/lander mission to Venus.
